Floating things

Floating things, 2023, single channel video, color

In Floating Things, Lee Wan explores a world where gravity seems to have disappeared, giving the impression that objects are levitating aimlessly in a state of weightlessness. The order and structure that once maintained the system have suddenly vanished, but behind this emptiness lies a new, albeit faint, system.

The entities hidden in the darkness and subtly manipulating the objects serve as a metaphor for the various systemic situations that individuals face, which can be overwhelming and seemingly inescapable. This piece is a continuation of Lee Wan’s Circulating Things series (2010), delving deeper into the themes of systems and control and offering a thought-provoking exploration of the human condition.
